With just 1 minor rider fault between them – so that means one of them had a clean sheet…..! These were great results as the pre-test nerves soon gave way to euphoria for the results.   • All Out in the Sunshine. All our bikes were out today. Here is Paul, Alex, Jamie, and Curtis on their step up day on to the big bikes on Sunday. Clocking up the miles and practising the exercises in preparation for the Mod 1 tests to be arranged. After a stop at Norms Cafe of Course. Alex taking every opportunity to eat! All did well and ready for the next stage. Big congratulations also to Nathan who passed his Mod 2 in Merthyr on Monday. Not pictured but no doubt already out shopping for a bike. Even if he did go the wrong way and lead the Examiner on a bit of a trek to get back on course. A great result for him.

  • A Frosty CBT. After having a CBT snowed off last weekend I was worrying a bit about the sub zero weather forecast for Saturday. But here we see Chris & Michal taking the cold, frosty start in their stride as they perfect their slow control technique on the Figure 8 Exercise. Both complete novices proving themselves to be confident and capable riders. Looking forward to the next stage in the training…… looking forward to the Summer!!!! Well done to you both.
  • Slow Control. In the early days. Riding a BMW R80. On the initial Motorcycle Course doing the slow control exercises. The Instructor then said, ‘It’s not all about speed. It’s about being able to control the bike at slow speeds’… And this was before the Mod 1 Bike Test came in, but the same is still true. Being able to master the clutch control at slow speed is a great confidence booster. Why not book yourself on one of our 1 day ‘Slow Control Courses’. Get the best from your bike…before it gets the better of you. (Not wishing to give my age away but just look at the top of the range cars parked in the background.) Quality!
  • Like Father, Like Son. A CBT today for Carl, (in the foreground) and his Dad Kevin. Both good riders with excellent balance and clutch control. Seen here practicing the slow speed Figure 8 Exercise. Both have their Theory Tests done and are now ready to step up to the big bikes for their final practical bike tests. Both proved themselves to be competent and methodical riders which will stand them in good stead to be safe riders for the future. Well done to them both.

Chris last rode 15years ago, but under Paul’s guidance quickly regained his skills and took to the open road, visiting Norms Bikers Cafe in the Vale of Glamorgan. Chris is hoping to hire a bike on a forthcoming trip to America and feels well equipped to do so after clocking up a few miles with us. Have a great trip. Nice one.
  • Night Riding Course. Here is the next of our ‘one off’ topic courses. Night Riding requires a whole new host of skills and considerations and with the dark nights coming as early as 4pm this time of the year, we can all find ourselves riding in the dark. So blow off the cobwebs after Christmas and join us for one of the best nights out you’ll have over Christmas. Thursday the 29th of December. Starting at 4pm. (until approx 9.30pm). We will be taking in City Traffic Situations as well as unlit mountain roads. So something for everyone. Just £75. Call us now, or add your name here and I’ll get you booked in. Maximum of 2:1 with the instructor in radio contact.

  • Well done to Matt who just passed his Mod 2 Bike test in Swansea. Big smiles and congratulations to him. Another 1st Class Rider out on the road.
  • The New edition of ‘Care on the Road’ the RoSPA newspaper is out. Pictured here is Martin, from Guernsey (in the yellow jacket) who has just passed The RoSPA Diploma in Motorcycle Instruction. Congratulations to him. Martin trained with 1st Class Rider Training and achieved his Gold Advanced Rider status before attending the Diploma course. A big well done to him. The RoSPA Diploma is a qualification to a very high standard indeed. Thinking you’re good is one thing…. But knowing you’re good is so much better.

Instructors Jeff, who is a serving Class 1 Police rider and RoSPA Advanced Test Examiner, Andy, RoSPA Examiner and RoSPA Diploma holder and Anthony an Advanced Bike Tutor for the RoSPA Group. Also all DSA certified Motorcycle Instructors. The RoSPA Diploma is recognised as one of the highest teaching qualifications for Motorcycle Training. 1st Class Instructors for 1st Class Rider Training.

    1st Class Rider at The Big Apple….. We get about a bit. Here we are training at The Big Apple. No, not New York…. but THE Big Apple… at Mumbles on The Gower. Kevin, pictured here on his Direct Access Training fancied an ice cream so we went to the Seaside! We don’t rehearse test routes… we’ll eat our way around to clock up the miles so you can learn to ride! Passing the test is then easy.

  • All Out in the Sunshine. All our bikes were out today. Here is Paul, Alex, Jamie, and Curtis on their step up day on to the big bikes on Sunday. Clocking up the miles and practising the exercises in preparation for the Mod 1 tests to be arranged. After a stop at Norms Cafe of Course. Alex taking every opportunity to eat! All did well and ready for the next stage. Big congratulations also to Nathan who passed his Mod 2 in Merthyr on Monday. Not pictured but no doubt already out shopping for a bike. Even if he did go the wrong way and lead the Examiner on a bit of a trek to get back on course. A great result for him.
  • CBT. Paul gives Dan some individual help in pulling away on a Cbt. In the background Luke gets to grips with the Yamaha 125. Both completed their Cbt to a good standard. Ready for the next stage of the training.
  • I want one of those…. Pictured here is Martyn who successfully completed his CBT today, who has his eyes on my bike!! He is ready for the next stage in the Direct Access Scheme and fancies a Kawasaki for himself but will probably go for the 600 to get going. A complete novice, he completed the cbt to a good standard and is another safe 1st Class Rider on the road. Well done.
