A 1st Class 1st timer. Gareth has reason to smile after passing his Mod 1 bike test at his first attempt today. Just as his test started there was a slight problem with the bike so he had to change bikes and take his test on a bike he hadn’t yet ridden! But keeping his nerves in check he got the right result, and as you can see he was very happy. All ready for his Mod 2 to come.

FREE Motorcycle Training
We are pleased to be supporting a scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government & Cardiff Council that provides a full day of Motorcycle Training in order to reduce Rider Casualties.
Provided by Approved Training Bodies, of which 1st Class Rider Training is one. We use expert instructors, including Police Class 1 Riders, RoSPA Advanced Tutors and Examiners for the RoSPA Advanced Test. This is training to the highest standard.
The scheme , which we were pioneering at its inception has drawn much acclaim from riders who have gone before, and also much praise from the Cardiff Council Road Safety Officer ( whose money pays for your course!!)
The course consists of a joint classroom based presentation/discussion before splitting into matched pairs for the rest of the day out on road, with an Instructor in radio contact.
Topics covered in the classroom include, observation skills, junctions, filtering, SMIDSYs and much more.

Christmas Hospital Teddy Bear Run. Saturday 19th December
Meeting at 10am on Saturday the 19th of December. (Not a Sunday this year).
As a Traffic Cop we often found ourselves at the casualty department dealing with the aftermath of road crashes. It was all the more distressing when these involved children. Some years ago we set up a fund to provide Teddy Bears be handed to any children who were unfortunate enough to find themselves in A&E over the Christmas period. It was found that if a child becomes attached to a cuddly toy whilst they are receiving treatment, it aids their recovery if they are allowed to take the toy home with them. Obviously there is no funding for this is in the NHS. So we need you!
Meeting at 10am at Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar to ride down to the Children’s Casualty Unit at University Hospital of Wales – UHW Heath Hospital.
We will then continue with a ride out to a suitable cafe for some refreshments.
Size Matters!! Smaller Teddies are better, as they don’t get in the way of any treatment that the child is receiving. Please don’t wrap them. These are not meant as Christmas presents…. they are New Friends in Waiting!
