Here is James on his ‘Step Up’ day. The first stage of his Direct Access training. Practising the Avoidance Exercise on our Honda CBF 600.
He has been riding a Yamaha 125 and has built up plenty of road experience which will stand him in good stead for his future tests.
The Avoidance Exercise is part of the Module 1 Bike Test, and the rider must attain a speed of 32mph and then swerve to avoid the big blue cone.
It is to simulate someone opening a car door on you, or someone stepping from the pavement etc.
Practicing builds up confidence and will allow riders in the future to deal with such emergencies without panicking or losing control.
A good day for James. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074

Early this year I joined the NEG Wales, Motorcycle Escort Group involved in Marshalling Cycle Road Events.
Whilst my previous Police riding experience stood me in good stead to join the group it is the mentoring that you get from the experienced members of the group that proved invaluable. Big thanks to them.
This picture was taking at an event on the weekend, Etappe Cymru which was based on roads around Llangollen.
The backdrop here is the early morning Sun coming up across the Dee Valley and is taken from Panorama Walk overlooking the town.
Thanks to the NEG… They even let me ride up the mountains on my own now…. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
Bleddyn completed his Cbt and is getting a scooter for working & travel in the City of London. No more parking or congestion charges for him From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074

Gareth, who passed his Mod 2 test with us recently, brought his new bike in to show us.
It’s always nice to see why a bike licence is so important to out clients.
Whatever you ride, remember, it’s the only way to travel.
Gareth commutes over the Severn Bridge and is looking forward to riding ‘toll free’ to cross the river, as bikes don’t had to pay.
Nice one. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074

Here is Chris who travelled from London for a back to biking day at 1st Class Rider Training.
Chris had a great day and took to riding our 600cc Honda easily, after a long break from riding.
Chris said, “I thought you’d have me tootling about in the yard, but we’ve been over the mountains and had me doing 60 down the Heads of the Valley road….. I need to lie down”.
Well done to Chris who is now in the market for a bike. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
